Privacy Policy
The short version
- Private by default. Only people in groups you join can see your location, and only while your sharing is on. One tap pauses it.
- No trail on our servers. We keep your most recent location for about 24 hours, then delete it. We do not store a history of where you have been. Your Timeline stays on your phone.
- No ads, no selling. There are no advertising or analytics SDKs in the app, and we never sell your data.
- You can leave any time. Deleting your account in the app removes everything within 30 days, and it disappears for other people immediately.

1. Who we are
Siymo Maps is a service for sharing your live location with small groups, such as family and close friends. In this policy, “Siymo”, “we” and “us” mean the team that operates Siymo Maps and its mobile apps for iPhone and Android. You can reach us at privacy@siymo.com.
2. What we collect
Your account
- Phone number, if you sign in by phone. You sign in by sending us a text message, so we receive the number the message came from. You choose this number; we do not read your contacts.
- Google or Apple account details, if you sign in with Google or Apple: a unique account identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email address. With Apple you can hide your email address.
- Your profile: the name you choose, your initials, marker colour, and a profile photo if you add one. We remove location data (EXIF) hidden in photos before storing them.
Your location
- While your sharing is on, your phone sends your location (latitude and longitude), the accuracy of the fix, your speed and direction when you are moving, your battery level, and the time.
- If a group's precision is set to approximate, the people in that group receive a deliberately blurred position (rounded to roughly one kilometre, without speed or direction).
- The app can keep updating your location while it is closed, if you allow “Always” location (iPhone) or “Allow all the time” (Android). Without it, your pin only moves while the app is open.
- The app checks arrivals and departures for zones (places you or your group choose, such as Home or School) on your phone, and reports a crossing when one happens.
Your Timeline
The Timeline (the places you have been and your daily rhythm) is built and stored only on your phone. It is never uploaded to our servers, and no one else can see it.
Groups and activity
- The groups you belong to, your role, your sharing and precision settings, invites you create, and join requests.
- Zones you create: a name, a centre point, a radius, and who it watches.
- Alerts: for example “Aziza arrived at School”, with the person, the zone name and the time. Alerts do not contain coordinates.
Your devices
- For each signed-in phone: the platform (iPhone or Android), the app version, a device name, whether location permission is on, an install identifier, and the push notification token needed to send you notifications.
- A list of your signed-in sessions, so you can see and end any of them.
Technical data
- Your IP address is processed when your phone contacts our servers. We use it briefly to limit abuse, such as repeated sign-in attempts. Our infrastructure providers also process it to deliver the service.
- Operational logs (what request was made and whether it worked) are used to keep the service running and secure.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your contacts, your photos beyond a profile photo you choose, your advertising identifier, or the content of your messages. Siymo Maps contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and no third-party trackers.
3. How we use it
- To run Siymo Maps: sign you in, show you and your group on the map, and deliver arrivals, departures and other alerts.
- To send push notifications that you have allowed. Notifications name a person, a place and a time; they never include coordinates.
- To keep the service safe: preventing abuse, investigating problems and fixing bugs.
- To respond to your requests and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or to build profiles.
4. Who can see your location
- Members of your groups, only while your sharing is on in that group. Visibility is one-way: if you pause your sharing, people drop off your map for them but you may still see them.
- Zone owners. If someone creates a zone that watches you, they get arrival and departure alerts about you for that zone. You are told when a zone watches you.
- Nobody else. Other users cannot see you, and your location is not public. Access by our team is limited to what is needed to operate and secure the service.
Please only join groups with people you trust, and only share your location with people who know and agree.
5. Companies that help us run Siymo Maps
We use these providers to run the service. They process data on our behalf, or when you choose their feature:
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Firebase) | Sign-in, the database that holds your account, groups and live locations, and push notifications on Android | Your account identifiers and the data described above |
| Cloudflare | Runs our server software and delivers it quickly worldwide | Requests from your phone, including your IP address |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, and push notifications on iPhone | Your Apple sign-in identifier and your push token |
| Google Sign-In | Only if you choose “Continue with Google” | Your Google account details you approve |
| Map providers: Yandex Maps, OpenStreetMap, Google Maps | Draw the map. You choose the provider in the app | The map area you view and technical data such as your IP address. They do not receive your groups, your name or others' locations |
| Your mobile carrier | Carries the text message you send to sign in | Standard carrier handling of that message; your carrier's rates apply |
These providers have their own privacy policies, which apply to what they do with your data. We encourage you to read them.
6. Where your data is processed
Our database is hosted by Google in Belgium (European Union). Our server software runs on Cloudflare's global network, so a request may be handled in a data centre near you. This means your data is processed outside Uzbekistan and may be processed in other countries where our providers operate. By using Siymo Maps you understand and agree to this.
7. How long we keep things
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your latest location (what groups see) | About 24 hours from the moment it was recorded, then deleted. We keep no location history. |
| Your Timeline | On your phone only. It stays until you delete it or remove the app. |
| Live notifications inside the app | 48 hours |
| Alerts in your Alerts feed (arrivals, join requests…) | 180 days |
| Zone arrival and departure records | 90 days |
| Invites and join-request decisions | Invites last 24 hours; related records are removed within about 30 days |
| Push delivery receipts | 30 days |
| Signed-in sessions | Valid up to 60 days; ended sessions are removed after 90 days |
| Security and account audit records (for example removals and deletions) | 1 year |
| Your account after you delete it | Hidden from everyone immediately; all your data deleted within 30 days. Nothing is archived and nothing can be restored. |
We do not make backups of location data.
8. Your choices and rights
- Pause or stop sharing. Use “Share my location” to turn all sharing off, pause sharing for a set time, or turn it off in one group at a time. Paused means nobody can see you.
- Choose precision. Share your exact position or only an approximate one, per group.
- Control permissions. You can withdraw location, camera, photo and notification access at any time in your phone's settings. The app keeps working, but live sharing and alerts need them.
- See and end sessions. Settings shows every phone signed in to your account. You can end any of them, which signs it out straight away.
- Edit your profile. Change your name, photo, colour and, for phone accounts, your number, in Settings.
- Delete your account. In the app: open Settings, then your profile, then Delete account. You can also request it without the app: see Delete your account.
- Ask us. You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by writing to privacy@siymo.com. Depending on where you live, the law may give you additional rights, and we will respect them.
9. Age limit
Siymo Maps is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 is using Siymo Maps, contact us and we will remove the account.
10. Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is restricted by rules so that you can read only your own information and what your groups are allowed to share with you. We keep as little data as we can, and delete it on a schedule. No system is perfectly secure; if you find a problem, please tell us at privacy@siymo.com.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date and version at the top show the latest update. If a change matters to you, such as a new kind of data or a new use, we will tell you in the app or by another reasonable means before it takes effect.
